Former Apple Executive Guy Kawasaki To Speak At IFA Convention

November 02, 2011 // Franchising.com // WASHINGTON -- Guy Kawasaki, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, bestselling author, and former Apple Fellow who was the chief evangelist for the company and one of the employees originally responsible for marketing the Macintosh computer, will be a keynote speaker during the closing keynote luncheon at the International Franchise Association's 52nd Annual Convention Feb. 14 in Orlando, Fla.

"Guy Kawasaki's unique insights in business and technology will be well received by the nearly 3,000 franchise industry professionals expected in Orlando for IFA's Convention," said IFA President & CEO Steve Caldeira. "Guy Kawasaki's in-depth knowledge of the high-tech industry combined with his years of management experience will enable him to address the wide range of franchise industries represented in franchising who attend the IFA Convention."

Guy Kawasaki is the author of Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions He is also the co-founder of Alltop.com, an "online magazine rack" of popular topics on the web, and a founding partner at Garage Technology Ventures. Previously, he was the chief evangelist of Apple. Kawasaki is the author of nine other books including Reality Check, The Art of the Start, Rules for Revolutionaries, How to Drive Your Competition Crazy, Selling the Dream, and The Macintosh Way. Kawasaki has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.

Scheduled for Feb. 11-14 in Orlando, Fl., the 52nd IFA Annual Convention will highlight the franchise industry's focus on how franchising builds local businesses, one opportunity at a time. The 52nd annual event will help attract upwards of 3,000 franchise community professionals seeking to build on their franchise expertise and professional networks through unrivalled educational content, professional development opportunities and the exhibit hall showcase.

Highlights of the 52nd annual event will be the 2012 Franchise Business Outlook report and the annual Financial, Technology, New Markets and International Summits, which provide best practices advice and educational content from franchise industry experts to attendees.

Recognizing the year-round community service initiatives of its members, IFA will hold an inaugural "Franchising Gives Back" event ahead of next year's Convention. The event is designed to highlight the strong commitment and impact of franchising on local communities to build vibrant communities through both local economic activity and support for local organizations. The day-long event will bring a corps of convention attendees to a site in Orlando to perform community service for a local cause, followed by an evening celebration to recognize the community initiatives of members.
