Dog Training Franchise Known for Innovative Programs, Socialization Opportunities Recognized by Leading Pet Publication

September 05, 2012 // Franchising.com // West Hollywood, Calif. – In its annual contest to select the outstanding pet industry retailer, Pet Product News International, the leading monthly trade news magazine covering the issues and trends affecting all sectors of the professional pet industry, announced Zoom Room as recipient of Outstanding Pet Services Award, which is part of the magazine’s prestigious Retailer of the Year award program.

Pet Product News International announced the award in the September 2012 issue of the magazine and will profile the retailer in the February 2013 edition. The overall winner and the 11 special recognition winners are each given a seat on the Pet Product News International Retail Advisory Board as part of the award program.

The Los Angeles-based pet training services franchise was founded by dog trainer Jaime Van Wye in 2007 and is headed by Mark Van Wye, COO. With 11 current locations in seven states (California, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin) and 27 additional locations in the process of opening in cities such as Philadelphia, San Francisco and other dog-centric communities throughout the country, Zoom Room is aiming to become the most renowned training center for the dog-owning population in the United States.

Using only positive-reinforcement techniques, Zoom Room staff provides a variety of group and private classes, including dog agility, obedience training, puppy classes and enrichment offerings such as urban herding, scent class, dog tricks and therapy dog training. In addition, every facility offers a range of eco-friendly training products, features an indoor dog park for "private gym sessions” and hosts canine events such as breed meet-ups, charitable fund-raisers and birthday parties.

The Retailer of the Year Awards were created 20 years ago to recognize retail excellence in the pet industry. Candidates are initially selected from applications distributed to retailers via the magazine, PetProductNews.com and trade shows. Retailers are then reviewed and evaluated by members of Pet Product News International’s award panel on such criteria as promotion of companion animals, involvement with professional and service organizations, innovative promotion, effective strategies in the marketplace, community and industry impact and employee training practices.

The Retailer of the Year contest is sponsored this year by World Pet Association (WPA), the oldest pet industry trade association and organizer of the annual SuperZoo trade show.
