Bakery-Cafe Offers Guests a Fresh New Salad, Sandwich, Soup and Dessert
AUSTIN, Texas - June 22, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Yesterday kicked off the first day of summer and Schlotzsky’s® is giving guests new ways to enjoy the season’s freshest flavors by expanding its menu to include additional options. Available now, Schlotzsky’s, home of The Original® oven-baked sandwich, will feature a new Fresh Kale and Grilled Chicken Salad, Verona Veggie Sandwich, Chicken Andouille Gumbo and a fresh Wild Berry topping to pair with its popular Cinnabon® dessert. These limited time summer items are offered in addition to Schlotzsky’s Route 66 menu, which presents a variety of regionally-inspired sandwiches and wraps through August 30.
The new Fresh Tastes of Summer menu items include:
- Fresh Kale & Grilled Chicken Salad: Fresh kale and Napa cabbage with diced eggs, dried cranberries, tangy goat cheese, candied pecans and hand-carved grilled chicken breast, tossed with a red wine vinaigrette.
- Verona Veggie: Fresh kale and Napa cabbage slaw with piquant pepperoncini, olive tapenade, crisp cucumbers, red onions, vine-ripened tomato and melted cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses served on an oven-baked Sourdough bun.
- Chicken Andouille Gumbo: Tender chicken, Andouille sausage and okra blended in a spicy roux-thickened broth with the Cajun “Trinity” of onion, bell pepper and celery along with garlic and spicy pepper sauce -- topped with sourdough croutons and green onion.
- Cinnabon® Wild Berry Topper: A delectable combination of raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries at the peak of their season. This spread can be paired with fan-favorite menu items such as the Classic Roll, MiniBon, and Center of the Roll.
