Pizza Hut® Pan Pizza Turns 25

DALLAS, TX (Monday, September 26, 2005) - The year was 1980. Ronald Regan defeated Jimmy Carter; CNN hit the airwaves; and Americans were obsessed with finding out who shot J.R.

But for faithful pizza fans, 1980 may be best remembered for when the very first Pizza Hut Pan Pizza was pulled out of the oven, which has continued to be America's favorite Pan Pizza for a quarter of a century.

To mark the occasion and to say "Thank You America," Pizza Hut is offering its medium, one topping Pan Pizza for only 25 cents with the purchase of any large Specialty Pizza at menu price. Pan Pizza fans agree that it's the flavorful thick crust, which is golden brown, crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, that makes Pan Pizza a top seller. And it's not surprising that cheese and pepperoni have continued to be Amercica's favorite toppings on the Pan Pizza for the last 25 years.

The special Pan Pizza promotion began Sunday, September 25 and goes through November 26 at participating Pizza Hut® restaurants.

"Our Pan Pizza has virtually become an American dinnertime icon," said Tom James, chief marketing officer, Pizza Hut. "What better way to let families enjoy more of their favorite thick-crust pizza, than to make it available for only a quarter as our way of saying thanks."

Based on an average of Pizza Hut brand sales, Pizza Hut sold nearly 168 million Pan Pizzas in 2004. If placed side by side, the pizza path would exceed the circumference of the Earth. Now imagine how many times Pizza Hut has wrapped the globe with its Pan Pizza over the last quarter of a century!

Product advertising honoring Pan Pizza's 25th anniversary began airing nationally Sunday, September 25. The new campaign will emphasize the "Thank You America" theme.
