Stelios Delivers Latest Easy Service With Pizza Franchise

SEGENSWORTH EAST, UK (Friday, February 03, 2006) - SERIAL entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of budget airline easyJet, today outlined his ambitious plans to take on market leaders Pizza Hut and Domino's with a new pizza delivery service.

The easyPizza venture promises quality pizzas delivered to the home in easyGroup's trademark no-frills, low-cost style.

The first franchise is to be located in Segensworth East, between Portsmouth and Southampton on the south coast of England, but the plans call for the setting up of more than 1000 franchises UK-wide.

Using the easyGroup's Yield Management System, the pizzas will be priced differently during peak and off-peak times in order to attract custom when demand is normally low.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "Stelios has re-engineered the pizza delivery model to produce a no-frills, low-cost delivery business. Anyone can produce cheap pizza, but here, quality of product and service standards have not been compromised."

Last year saw the successful launch of easyCruise featuring bright orange ships, coffee shops, pasta bars and double cabins starting at just £50 per night.

However, not everything the Greek-Cypriot businessman has touched has turned to gold. With a single picture house in Milton Keynes, easyCinema has hardly been a success of blockbuster proportions.

There are some 15 brands within easyGroup, which is the private investment vehicle of Mr Haji-Ioannou. EasyJet remains the flagship business, with its 200-odd routes between 67 European airports. Other operations include easyBus, offering a low-cost minibus service from London to Luton airport and Milton Keynes.

EasyHotel offers budget hotel accommodation booked online in London and Basel, while easy4Men provides grooming products for "no-nonsense men".

Elsewhere, easyMobile provides mobile telephony paid for over the internet and easyWatch sells 16 low-cost watches online.
