Blimpie - Franchise Development Group Foresees 150 New Jobs Over The Next Three Years In Philadelphia

(Friday, September 08, 2006) - Nicholas Lagano, president of Blimpie Associates, Ltd., announced the awarding of franchise development rights for BLIMPIE branded restaurants throughout the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area to Franchise Edge, Inc.

"At BLIMPIE, we have a 42-year enviable track record built on superior product quality, exceptional customer service and a commitment to community involvement," said Lagano.

"The principals at Franchise Edge are experienced BLIMPIE area developers and they've proven that they can implement our operating model and create rewarding franchise opportunities for passionate entrepreneurs."

The president and CEO of Franchise Edge is Michael Sarao, who over the last 15 years has opened BLIMPIE franchise restaurants throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

"We plan to award 25 franchise licenses in the next three years which translates into as many as 150 new jobs," said Sarao.

In addition to Mr. Sarao, the Franchise Edge team includes BLIMPIE veterans Anthony Maisano, executive VP, and Larry DiDonato, senior VP.

"We plan to partner exclusively with key real estate brokers to secure the best possible locations for our franchisees," said Maisano.

"This unique plan and seasoned organization will help us attract successful multi-unit and multi-brand operators who recognize the power of the BLIMPIE brand name and the loyal following our restaurants enjoy."

The Franchise Edge territory includes Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties.

"We'll be responsible for selling and for supporting our franchisees with site selection, lease negotiations, restaurant design, construction assistance, comprehensive training, marketing programs, and on-going support," said Maisano.

"We'll also support the community by donating $500.00 to the Boys and Girls Clubs each time we open a BLIMPIE restaurant."

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia began as the Germantown Club in 1887 and joined the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in 1903.

"BLIMPIE has been a longtime contributor to our national organization and we are thrilled that we'll finally be able to enjoy the BLIMPIE Best sandwich here in Philly," said Jeffrey Waldron, chief professional officer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia.

"Our mission has always been to inspire and empower young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens. We applaud our partners at BLIMPIE for their generous pledge and for their support of the more than 14,000 youths who will pass through our doors this year."

"We're very excited to bring the BLIMPIE Subs and Salads experience to the City of Brotherly Love," said Sarao.

"Wherever people enjoy good food, BLIMPIE is there."
