MaggieMoo's International Makes Extremely Cool Donation

Columbia, MD - MaggieMoo's International recently joined with the Emmy-winning ABC-TV program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, donating free ice cream for a year to one very deserving family in Armada Township, Mich., as well as providing a delicious assortment of award-winning super premium ice cream on location for the builders and other volunteers.

David Gilliam, a firefighter and emergency medical technician, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve 2005, leaving his wife Maryann, 32, with six children (currently ages eight months to 12 years) and a tiny two-bedroom, 120-year-old house that David was in the process of renovating. Though it was soon revealed that the basement was contaminated with dangerous levels of toxic spores, possibly contributing to David's death, money was tight. The family continued living in the 900-square-foot, 1-1/4 bath farmhouse until their doctors recommended they move out and into Maryann's sister's home. All that changed on Aug. 7, when a surprise knock on the door altered their lives once again.

"We're very excited for the opportunity to provide the Gilliams with free ice cream for a year," said Jon Jameson, CEO of MaggieMoo's. "After all they've been through, they truly deserve such a treat. We have no doubt our super premium ice cream (and assortment of mix-ins) will delight the entire family all year long."

Proving almost as popular as some of the show's cast members, MaggieMoo's beloved spokescow Maggie, a seven-foot tall cow with long, curly eyelashes, pearls and a bright pink dress, spent most of the day posing for photos and making new friends. The MaggieMoo's franchise in Rochester Hills provided more than 300 scoops of MaggieMoo's most popular flavors of award winning ice cream - Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry and Better Batter. A sundae bar stocked with an assortment of fresh mix-ins and toppings allowed on-site workers and guests to create one-of-a-kind ice cream desserts.

Maggie's generous personality perfectly complements the charitable philosophies practiced on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. When mingling through the crowd, the towering ice cream maven couldn't resist sharing her creamy treats with envious, wide-eyed spectators who were not on the set - an act appreciated in the sweltering heat of August.

"We believe Extreme Makeover: Home Edition reflects our brand's strong position on community involvement and service, as well as our commitment to excellence," Jameson said. "We strive to exhibit the same level of dedication evident on the program, always providing our patrons with the tastiest, freshest ice cream available."

He added, "We are grateful for this chance to give back and hope to do more work with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in the future."

MaggieMoo's currently operates more than 190 Treateries across the nation. Each location features a menu of freshly made premium ice creams, mix-ins, smoothies, sorbets, ice cream cupcakes and custom ice cream cakes.
