Gold's Gym Makes Children's Wishes Come True

ISLIP, NY (Friday, November 17, 2006) - Gold's Gym Islip presents a chance for guests to burn calories while granting four children their greatest wishes at its 2nd annual "Spin-a-thon" charity event on Saturday, November 18. Both members and non-members are invited to participate in assorted yoga, dance, and spinning competitions at Islip's brand new Gold's Gym location to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Last year's first annual "Spin-a-thon" was a great success for the area, as the charity event raised enough money to grant three children's wishes. Hoping to surpass their previous philanthropic effort with Make-A-Wish, Islip's latest Gold's Gym facility will provide double the amount of space and activities to entice the community to support this worthy cause. Funds raised will be granting wishes for all-expense paid Walt Disney World vacations for three of the children and their entire families and one final wish for a laptop computer. After raising enough money to fulfill these four wishes, the remaining proceeds will be given to Make-A-Wish to fulfill even more children's dreams.

The event will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the brand new Gold's Gym Islip, a full-service 46,000 sq. foot facility, located off Rt. 111 in Islip, NY. The community will Spin, dance, and do yoga 'till they drop for this invigorating fundraiser. The event will include a five-hour "Spin-a-thon" with 100 bikes, a five-hour dance-a-thon and a three-hour "yoga-thon," all led by the energetic expert Gold's Gym staff. Guests will also enjoy delicious food and raffle prizes donated by local vendors throughout the day.

All proceeds will go directly toward the Make-A-Wish Foundation's efforts to fulfill wishes for sick children in the local community. Money will be raised by selling spots on the bikes for the "Spin-a-thon" and by getting sponsors for each participant. Donations are also welcome and raffle tickets will be sold for great prizes donated by vendors and area businesses. For more information on how to help Gold's Gym fulfill its promise to these four children, call Sue Slack at 631-236-4670.
