Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. President Stuart Mathis Elected To International Franchise Association Board

Washington, D.C., February 27, 2007 – Stuart Mathis, president of San Diego-based Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. (MBE), has been elected to the board of directors of the International Franchise Association (IFA). The election occurred during the association's 47th annual convention Feb. 24-27 in Las Vegas.

Mathis has more than 28 years experience in franchising, operations and administration. He began his franchising career in 1985 as regional controller for Domino's Pizza, Inc. After 18 months, he was promoted to regional vice president, then served for seven years as executive vice president of franchise operations and eventually was part of the team that sold the company for more than $1 billion.

Following his career with Domino's, Mathis joined the executive team at Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. in 2001, as vice president of operations. A short time later the company was acquired by UPS. In 2002, he was promoted to president of MBE, where he managed the conversion of most of the domestic network to The UPS Store® brand and currently oversees a global network of more than 5,800 retail locations.

IFA, founded in 1960, serves as the "Voice of Franchising" and represents more than 1,100 franchise parent companies, 8,000 franchisees and 400 firms that supply goods and services to the sector.

The franchising sector creates more than 18 million jobs and generates $1.53 trillion in activity for the U.S. economy, according to a recent study conducted for the IFA Educational Foundation by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
