World Premiere - Mini Packs For The 2008 Tim Hortons Brier Go On Sale March 2nd

(Wednesday, February 28, 2007) - The 2008 Tim Hortons Brier "Legends of Rock" is just under a year away and is already breaking new ground in the curling world. For the first time in history, mini packs for this championship curling event are available a full year in advance. Opening and closing weekend mini packs go on sale March 2, 2007.

"For years curling fans have been asking why mini packages couldn't be on sale earlier than a few months before the event. Well they no longer have to ask or wait" said Barry Greenberg, President of the Winnipeg Host Committee. "This is a wonderful opportunity for those fans that can come for two, four or nine days to watch great championship curling and join in one of the biggest celebrations in Canada."

The sport of curling paired with the great environment which exists in its entertainment venues appeals to a vast audience. The Canadian Curling Association recognized that to accommodate the growing number of younger fans with busy schedules, they needed to change the way they ticketed their events.

Does this mean the traditional 9 day; full event package has seen its day? "Absolutely not" says Warren Hansen, of the Canadian Curling Association. "It is still the foundation of our ticket packaging, but we felt we owed the fans the opportunity to purchase other packages when they want them. And why not launch this world premier in a curling hotbed like Winnipeg?"

There are two weekend mini packs to choose from: the 'First Rocks', which features admission to the Opening Ceremonies, the Ford Hot Shots skills competition and five draws on March 8 and 9, 2008 for $95. The 'Last Rocks', package covers the closing weekend March 13 to 16, 2008, and includes the final three round-robin games, any tie-breakers, two playoff games, the semi-final and the championship final for $165. Mini pack tickets also provide access to the Keith's Brier Patch and the Purple Heart Lounge located in the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

With four price options, the full event package is still a tremendous value for those who want to secure their perfect seat for the entire event. The combined price of the First Rocks and Last Rocks mini packs is $260, compared to a full event package in the bronze section for $300. For an additional $40, the customer gets three additional days or nine additional curling draws.

Interest in the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier has been fantastic since February 8 when full event passes for went on sale. However Brier organizers say great seats are still available at all price points.

Starting March 2, starting at 10am, First Rocks and Last Rocks packages can all be purchased online at www ticketmaster.ca, by phoning the sports line 204.669.3333 or in person at the MTS Centre. Full Event packages continue to be available.
