Family Plans to Open Three Pubs in Reno, Lake Tahoe, Carson City Area

March 07, 2007 // Franchising.com // Ontario, —Jim and Jeff Phalan of High Sierra Food and Beverage Inc have inked a multi-unit franchise agreement with the Firkin Group of Pubs, one of the largest and fastest growing English pub chains in North America. High Sierra Food and Beverage Inc will bring three pubs to Northwest Nevada—the first is scheduled to open in Carson City in fall 2007.

"When I decided to sell my wifi company, I began to look for a franchised concept that had a solid business format and would be unique to the Nevada area," says Jim, High Sierra Food and Beverage Inc president. "As soon as I came across the Firkin Group of Pubs I knew that they were a perfect fit."

Jim Phalan recently sold his company Resort WiFi LLC, a network of public wireless Internet access points placed in resorts, campgrounds, marinas and other public gathering areas, to Wayport—one of the largest wifi distributors in the hospitality business.

Jim adds, "Firkin has great food and great atmosphere—I can't wait to get one open here in Nevada."

In addition to the three pubs in Nevada, High Sierra Food and Beverage Inc bought the rights to two more units in the South Bay area of California. Development dates have yet to be set on the California stores.
