Cousins Subs Continues Revenue Growth For 10th Consecutive Quarter

Tuesday, May 01, 2007

Menomonee Falls, WI – Cousins Subs Systems Inc. continues its trend of positive sales delivering its tenth consecutive quarter of revenue growth during the first quarter of 2007.

According to John Pryor, company president and chief executive officer, "These results are a tribute to staying the course, following the marketing plan, and daily excellence in execution of Cousins Subs operating standards in every location in the system."

Striving for revenue growth during the first quarter of 2007 was exceptionally difficult due to setbacks from strong winter weather in the Midwest during the month of February. Freezing cold weather along with blizzards caused more schools and businesses to close than ever before over the last 15 years. While most companies saw sales drop by 6 percent to 15 percent, Cousins Subs only experienced a slight drop of 4 percent in the month of February.

With exciting sales in the weeks of March, including one week surpassing the same week in 2006 by 7 percent, the company was able to regain momentum to see overall revenue growth for the first quarter.

"I believe these recent sales increases are the most impressive turn around story in our history," said Pryor. "These results have allowed us to regain momentum as we head into our most productive spring and summer months."

Cousins Subs opened an additional two stores during the first quarter.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East coast–style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.
