Submarina To Enter Houston Market; Company Signs 110 Store Agreement

May 27, 2007 // Franchising.com // SAN DIEGO,- Submarina, Inc, a 30-year-old, fast-casual restaurant franchise based in San Diego County, California has announced plans to move into the Houston market. The sub sandwich chain, with 51 units in San Diego, Riverside and Orange Counties, inked an Area Development Agreement for the Houston market that includes plans to open 110 stores across the metropolitan area. The deal is the first of many in Submarina's national expansion plans.

Area Developers Ben Padilla and Robert Pina signed the agreement that will result in Padilla and Pina opening 110 Submarina restaurants in the Greater Houston market within 10 years.

"Benjamin and Robert are proven franchise operators committed to the Submarina concept. They know what it takes to make the franchise work outside

of California and we are confident they are right for our Houston expansion," said President and CEO Jeff Warfield.

Padilla and Pina, both former Subway multiple-store franchisees, said they are impressed with the immense potential of Submarina. "Rarely have I ever seen such uniformly outstanding factors in any franchise, as reflected in its leadership, team-concept, food quality, and new branding and decor. The leaders of this company are clearly ready to take Submarina to the highest levels of success," said Padilla.

Immediate expansion plans are also underway in Florida and Arizona.
