Popeyes® Chicken & Biscuits Offers "A Side of Hope," to America's Hungry Families

Virtual Food Bank will allow customers to donate Red Beans & Rice

ATLANTA – (June 29, 2007) – Less than one year after announcing its partnership with America's Second Harvest – The Nation's Food Bank Network, Popeyes® Chicken & Biscuits is proud to serve up "A Side of Hope," a Virtual Food Bank program. "A Side of Hope," allows individuals to donate funds to America's Second Harvest through www.popeyes.com so that protein-rich cans of Red Beans & Rice – a favorite side dish on the Popeyes menu – may be fed to hungry Americans across the nation.

Beginning July 1, individuals can visit the Virtual Food Bank and contribute to ending domestic hunger. Donors can choose the amount they contribute and can even give in honor of a designated individual. America's Second Harvest then passes 100% of these funds to the local food bank which serves the hungry in the donor's community. These funds will be used to purchase Red Beans & Rice in bulk allowing people to help those in need in their own neighborhoods

"Our company has always been a steward of the community, and "A Side of Hope," is an opportunity for Popeyes customers and employees to realize – and do something about – the significant need for hunger relief here in the United States," said Jim Lyons, Popeyes Chief Operating Officer. "More than 35 million Americans are food insecure, hungry or at risk of hunger in every community throughout the United States, and Popeyes is committed to helping our neighbors."

For every dollar donated, Popeyes and America's Second Harvest can provide nearly six servings of shelf-stable Red Beans & Rice. Red Beans & Rice also serve a practical purpose as food banks continually seek out rich sources of protein, especially in the summer when children do not receive meals from school breakfast and lunch programs.

"The great thing about using the Virtual Food Bank on www.popeyes.com is that when people make a donation, their gift will go to the Food Bank in their local community,» said Vicki Escarra, President and CEO of America's Second Harvest.

"A Side of Hope," runs through July 31, 2007, and coincides with the 35th anniversary of Popeyes. The program resonates with the company's longstanding commitment to serving its communities both inside and outside its restaurants. »As we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we're excited to continue our tradition of committed service through "A Side of Hope,"» Lyons said.

Popeyes began its partnership with America's Second Harvest in July 2006, with an initial contribution of $265,000 to help restock the food banks in the Gulf Coast region that were ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.
