100TH WEED MAN FRANCHISE OPENS IN UNITED STATES

When Joe Kemp and Jim Watson of Port Huron, Mich. signed on the dotted line in December, they became the owners of Weed Man's 100th franchise in the United States. Weed Man of St. Clair County is part of Steve Russell's Weed Man sub-franchise territory, MIK Holdings, which covers Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky.

Turf Holdings, Inc. started selling United States Weed Man dealerships through a sub-franchise system in 1996. The territories were established based on population. There are 13 sub-franchise territories in the United States. Two hundred twelve unit territories have been sold.

"We are right on track with our United States franchise sales," explained Turf Holdings C.O.O. Jennifer Lemcke. "We expect to continue this pace of growth through the next ten years

Port Huron's Joe Kemp said he didn't realize that his Weed Man was the 100th sold.

"I found out when I went to Toronto for training that our franchise was number 100 in the States," commented Joe. "It was sort of like being the millionth shopper through the door of a new mega store except there weren't any sirens blaring or balloons dropping."

Joe and his partner Jim have been entrepreneurs for many years. Joe has owned outdoor services companies for the past ten years in Virginia and Michigan. Jim is the fourth generation owner of a plumbing and heating company.

"Joe and Jim are ideal candidates for ownership in the Weed Man franchise system," said Lemcke. "Their work and entrepreneurial experience are typical of many of our longtime, successful franchisors."
