ACE Hardware Ranked Highest In Customer Satisfaction By J.D. Power and Associates' Inaugural Home Improvement Survey

Retailer Backs Promise of Helpfulness Every Day

OAK BROOK, Ill. (August 8, 2007) – "The helpful place" is not just a clever marketing tagline; it's the way Ace Hardware approaches customer satisfaction every day. And, thousands of homeowners clearly like what they experience. The nationwide network of 4,600 stores recently ranked the "Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Major Home Improvement Retail Stores", according to the J.D. Power and Associates inaugural 2007 Major Home Improvement Retail Store Satisfaction StudySM.

Ace's success has been driven by its heritage of helpfulness, meeting and exceeding customer needs for more than 80 years. "It's an honor to receive such a prestigous and respected recognition," stated Ray Griffith, president and CEO for Ace Hardware Corp. "Our stores take great pride in, and enthusiasm for, the message we champion, and I think that has a positive impact on our customers inside and even outside the store."

The inaugural J.D. Power and Associates study is based on responses from 16,239 consumers who purchased home improvement products or services in the previous 12 months. Ace Hardware ranked highest among major retailers with an overall satisfaction index score of 812 on a 1,000-point scale. The score is based on performance in six factors: sales staff, merchandise and services, store facility, price competitiveness, sales/promotions and checkout.
