Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. System-Wide Sales Increase 10.5 percent in Second Quarter

Leading Bakery Cafe to open several units in Q3

BURLINGTON, Vt. (August 2, 2007) – Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. today reported that second quarter system-wide gross sales were $42.11 million, compared with $38.12 million in 2006, marking a 10.5 percent increase. Revenue for comparable sales grew 4.9 percent at company locations and 3.8 percent system-wide for the second quarter ending July 10, 2007. This period marks 13 consecutive quarters of growth for the fast casual leader.

During the quarter Bruegger's opened four bakeries, one company-owned and three franchise-operated bringing the total to 259 bakeries in 21 states. Franchisees have development commitments for nearly 100 new units over the next few years.

"Many factors have been contributing to our great success this quarter. First and foremost, our team is committed to providing a memorable guest experience," said Bruegger's CEO James J. Greco. "We continue to improve the quality of our ingredients and have eliminated artificial trans fats from our menu." Greco also added that new products contributed to strong results. "We recently introduced salad wraps and continue to see growth in our Duos option which allows guests to pair two menu choices—sandwich, salad or soup for one low price."

Bruegger's expects to open 40 new bakeries this year and another 50 bakeries in 2008. New bakeries have just made their debut in South Carolina and Metro D.C. and expansion will continue this fall in markets across the country.
