Boston Pizza seeking franchisee in New Glasgow

Franchising offers exceptional business opportunity for local entrepreneurs

September 27, 2007 // Franchising.com // New Glasgow, NS, - Boston Pizza International Inc., Canada's No. 1 casual dining chain, today announced it is actively seeking a franchisee/investment group in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia as part of its rapid growth across Atlantic Canada. Boston Pizza now has 18 locations across Atlantic Canada, including 10 in Nova Scotia.

"The opening of Boston Pizza in New Glasgow will create 80-100 new jobs," says George Heos, vice president of franchise development for Eastern Canada with Boston Pizza International. "We're proud to contribute to New Glasgow's economic growth with the arrival of Boston Pizza."

Boston Pizza has more than 275 locations across Canada and serves more customers annually than any other casual dining concept. It generated $647 million in system-wide sales in 2006.

"Boston Pizza franchisees have been extremely successful right across Canada, and we've had particular success with our stores in Atlantic Canada," says Heos. "Boston Pizza celebrated the opening of its 10th location in Nova Scotia this year and we're now looking to expand to New Glasgow."

For entrepreneurs wanting to get into business, franchising offers the best of both worlds - the opportunity to own and manage a business, and leverage the strength of an established brand and proven business model.

"Boston Pizza is committed to ensuring the success of each individual franchisee," says

Hank Van Poelgeest, who owns locations in Halifax, Dartmouth, Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, and St. John's. "Once you're on board, Boston Pizza helps you find the right location, provides intensive training and operational support. They're there every step of the way."

"You go into business for yourself, not by yourself," says Mark Pacinda, president of Boston Pizza International. "Franchisees purchase two things - our brand and our system."

"New Glasgow is an ideal community for a Boston Pizza restaurant," continues Heos. "New Glasgow has the right demographic for Boston Pizza, is the perfect location to support good customer traffic, and is a growing community which will benefit from having a new dining alternative."

Boston Pizza provides its guests with two experiences under one roof: a full-service casual dining restaurant and a licensed sports bar, offering more than 100 menu items including a unique selection of gourmet pizzas, mouth-watering pastas, and a wide variety of appetizers, ribs, meal-size salads, sandwiches and desserts.

Boston Pizza has been recognized as a member of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for 13 years in a row and in 2003 was inducted into the Canadian Franchise Association's Hall of Fame. Boston Pizza International Inc. is headquartered in Richmond, B.C. and has regional offices in Mississauga, Ont. and Laval, Que. to support its expansion.
