Bernstein Represents Business Owners on Capitol Hill

ATLANTA - (Oct. 1, 2007) – Jim Bernstein, owner of the Glass Doctor® of Atlanta franchise, met with several federal legislators during his recent trip to Washington D.C., including Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Senator Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Representative Tom Price (R-06-Ga.). Bernstein discussed the concerns of Atlanta franchise and small business owners on issues such as comprehensive immigration reform, employees' rights to private ballot elections, health care reform, the Healthy Families Act.

Bernstein was in Washington as part of the International Franchise Association's 8th Annual Franchise Appreciation Day Sept. 10-11. The IFA recognized Bernstein, the Glass Doctor Franchisee of the Year, among other outstanding franchise owners from across the nation. Bernstein also had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers Al Hubbard, director of the National Economic Council and assistant to the President for Economic Policy; Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ); Senator Michael B. Enzi (R-WY); and George Will, columnist for The Washington Post and a regular guest on ABC's This Week.

"This was a great way to bring small business concerns directly to our lawmakers," Bernstein said. "It really puts a face on the issues that concern small business owners. I appreciate the legislators for taking the time to meet with me, and I hope we can work together on these issues in the future."

According to the IFA, one in seven jobs in the US is created by franchising. Altogether, 575 business owners met face-to-face with their congressmen during the two-day event.
