Stores To Continue to Operate Under Existing Names

October 03, 2007 // Franchising.com // San Diego, CA —Acknowledging its roots but realizing its future, Postal Annex+, Inc., the San-Diego based franchisor of the PostalAnnex+, Handle With Care-Packaging Store, Sunshine Pack & Ship and SPS Moving locations has changed its name to Annex Brands, Inc.

"We're in a tremendous position with each of our brands because of their complementary operations," said Patrick Edd, president and CFO of the company. "With the acquisition of the Packaging Store system, we can offer our customers a wider variety of shipping, moving and office solutions than ever before. In addition, each of our brands will refer business to each other rather than seek third-party providers. This will only strengthen our network as they assist each other with our customers' needs."

Founded in 1985 by Jack Lentz, the company's CEO, Annex Brands has grown to over 400 franchises operating both domestically and internationally. Last year the company acquired the Sunshine brands and just last month acquired the Packaging Store brand.

"A brand is more than just a name of a business," said Lentz. "It represents the image and reputation created through the daily use of the name in transactions with the public, the media, suppliers and other businesses. We believe each of our brands, through our franchisees, have developed into strong names in their respective communities."

Lentz said the company's plan is to continue to evaluate opportunities to expand into other brands whether directly related or complementary to Annex Brands' business model. Currently the company operates in 35 states.

Founded in 1985 as Postal Annex+, Inc. by Jack Lentz, the company quickly grew its flagship brand, PostalAnnex+ service centers, to now over 300 locations. Lentz realized a need not being met by other pack-and-ship businesses at the time: office services such as copying, faxing, and notary services. In September, 2006, the company increased its presence in the southeast with the acquisition of the Sunshine Pack & Ship and SPS Moving brands. In September, 2007 the company increased its presence from 24 to 35 states served with the addition of the Handle With Care—Packaging Store brand. Recognizing its future as a multi-branded organization, the company changed its name to Annex Brands, Inc. on September 20, 2007.
