Vijay Chopra Joins Bear Stearns Asset Management's Active Country Equity Investment Strategy Team

October 17, 2007 // Franchising.com // NEW YORK, NY — Bear Stearns Asset Management Inc. (BSAM) today announced that Vijay Chopra, PhD, CFA, has joined the Active Country Equity team as a Managing Director.

Commenting on the hire, Dr. Leila Heckman, Senior Managing Director of BSAM said, "We are very pleased to have Dr. Chopra join our team of experienced research professionals and investment strategists."

Margo Cook, Global Head of the Institutional Business for BSAM added, "Dr. Chopra is an accomplished investment professional and we are very excited to have him join BSAM. The Active Country Equity team, led by Dr. Heckman and Dr. John Mullin, has a unique and successful approach to global equity investing through proprietary, quantitatively-driven research. The addition of Dr. Chopra will allow us to continue expanding our global equity strategies and we expect that our clients will see further benefit from the innovative nature of our investment approach."

Dr. Chopra will be responsible for research and development of portfolio optimization techniques to add to the Active Country Equity team's top-down approach to country allocation.

Dr. Chopra joins BSAM from his own firm, VKC Investments, LLC, where for three years he developed and implemented a long-short equity strategy. Prior to VKC Investments, Dr. Chopra was a Portfolio Manager at Jacobs Levy Equity Management where he co-managed $13 billion in institutional active equity mandates, and Director and Portfolio Manager at Deutsche Bank where he co-managed $4.5 billion in global and regional equity portfolios. He holds a PhD in Finance from Vanderbilt University.
