Card Connection to Launch New Memorial Card to Remember Colleague

October 18, 2007 // Franchising.com // - Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, is to launch a new memorial card in memory of Heidi Sulley, one of the company's business development managers, who sadly passed away in 2005. Part of the sales proceeds from the birthday card which features a humorous design entitled 'older and better' will be donated to The Samaritans.

"This is the second card we have published in memory of Heidi," confirms Card Connection's creative director and close friend of Heidi, Natalie Turner. "The first was a brash and colourful card featuring a smiling pig – which may seem a strange way to pay tribute to a much-loved member of staff -however, Heidi was a colourful character and one of her more unusual jobs before joining Card Connection was running her own pig farm. We felt that producing such an irreverent design would have delighted Heidi, as would the approximately £800 that has so far raised for such a good cause.

"The new card, 'older and better', which was specially commissioned for the fun section of the Card Connection range, would also have appealed to Heidi's sense of humour," continues Turner. "In addition, it will have a wider general appeal, allowing us to continue to support the Samaritans."

The company has also created a special award in Heidi's name, which is presented annually to its franchisees who best demonstrates teamwork and support beyond the call of duty.

"Heidi was a hugely supportive person, to both our Franchisees and other members of staff, so it just seemed an appropriate way to keep alive her spirit within the company, and also to link it to such a supportive charity," explained Turner.
