Brand sets new record - opens 22nd hotel in 2007

November 12, 2007 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], one of the world's largest hotel groups by number of rooms, announced today that Staybridge Suites has opened its newest upscale extended-stay hotel in Sacramento, Calif. The Staybridge Suites Sacramento Natomas is the brand's 22nd opening this year - more than any previous year. The previous high total for one year was 21 in 2003.

"The Staybridge Suites Sacramento Natomas is the first of two Staybridge Suites hotels we plan to open in the next few months in Sacramento," said Robert Radomski, vice president, Brand Management-Extended Stay brands. "The opening of this hotel establishes a new record for the Staybridge Suites brand. We have opened 22 hotels in 2007 and there are 118 hotels open across our Americas region with another 143 hotels in the global development pipeline."

The Staybridge Suites Sacramento Natomas is owned by Gary Tharaldson's Heritage Inn of Sacramento, Inc. and managed by Tharaldson Property Management, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Tharaldson owns the largest independent development and management company in the United States. As part of his hotel portfolio, Tharaldson has signed 13 license agreements in the last two years with the Staybridge Suites brand for locations across the U.S. The Staybridge Suites Sacramento Natomas is his first of the brand to open.

The new 117-room, all-suite hotel features three well-designed spacious suite options (deluxe studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom/two-bath). All suites include functional, well-lit work stations with ergonomic seating, complimentary high-speed Internet access, complimentary local phone calls and two-line speaker phones with direct-dial number and personal voice mail as well as fully equipped kitchens.

Consistent with the Staybridge Suites brand, the new property offers exceptional guest amenities including a deluxe complimentary daily breakfast buffet featuring a rotating selection of hot items as well as other healthy product offerings, complimentary guest laundry and workout facilities, a 24-hour business services center complete with computers, complimentary hi-speed Internet access and laser printers/fax machines, "Wireless Anywhere" capability for Internet access anywhere on the hotel's property, a guest library with books and games, and BridgeMart, the hotel's 24-hour convenience store stocked with snacks, sundries, beverages and easy-to-prepare meals. Guests will get comfortable in the hotel's Great Room for evening "Sundowner" receptions three days a week for complimentary refreshments, light appetizers and conversation. A boardroom is available for small gatherings and guests can enjoy the hotel's heated outdoor pool and whirlpool.

Convenient to downtown Sacramento, the hotel is located at 140 Promenade Circle, Sacramento, Calif., at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Truxel Rd. The hotel is just minutes from the Sacramento Convention Center, Cal Expo Fairgrounds, ARCO Arena and Old Town Sacramento. While this is the first Staybridge Suites hotel in Sacramento, the brand is represented in 11 other locations throughout California with nine additional locations under development.
