CHIPS On Menu For Gloucester

Gloucester gamers are in for a helping of CHIPS.

November 15, 2007 // Franchising.com // The UK's biggest independent video games retailer, founded by Nik Agar and Don McCabe, is continuing to add to its tally of stores across the country and has just opened its 33rd UK outlet in Westgate Street, Gloucester.

The move is sure to delight Gloucestershire gamers who saw the premises fall vacant a few months ago when ePlay moved out.

Fortunately for CHIPS, it has managed to attract two members of staff, Steven Ford and Chris Popple, who previously worked at the video games store, to return to the offer their expertise to customers.

CHIPS Joint Managing Director Nik Agar said: "The video games store in Gloucester's Westgate Street operated as the head office of The Software Stores for a number of years before being run by ePlay.

"We are delighted we have now been able to open it as a CHIPS store and to have secured two staff members who have worked there in the past and know the customers.

"We are sure that with their experience, our excellent customer service and huge range of consoles and games on offer, it will be a huge success."

CHIPS has just celebrated its 21st anniversary and has a wealth of experience within the video games market.

Don McCabe, Joint MD, said: "The store has quite a history as a video games shop which is a big advantage for us.

"Although CHIPS' expansion is usually via the franchise route we are always on the lookout for good store locations and when we are able to attract excellent, experienced staff then that is a real bonus."

The store has been re-signed and stocked with CHIPS' massive range of new and second-hand consoles, games and accessories.

It will open 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.

CHIPS has 33 outlets across the UK from Glasgow to the south coast and all buy, sell and trade new and second-hand consoles, games and accessories.
