Bennigan's SPORT Arrives in Chicago-Area

Hobart, Ind. location is the second restaurant for the concept

November 27, 2007 // Franchising.com // PLANO, Texas – Bennigan's SPORT, the first sports bar concept from Metromedia Restaurant Group (MRG), opened its second U.S. location last week in Hobart, Ind.

The restaurant at (### street name) features free WiFi, 28 Plasma TVs, a lounge area, 20 beers on tap, signature beer blends, 25 bottle label beers and 12 classic canned labels. The interior has been updated with stonework and steel touches.

The Hobart location was developed by Bennigan's franchisee Larry Briski and is a conversion of a traditional Bennigan's Grill & Tavern.

"Mr. Briski expressed interest almost immediately and we thought his suburban Chicago location would be an excellent proving ground for our second Bennigan's SPORT," said Flynn Dekker, senior vice president of marketing for MRG. "We wanted this restaurant to reflect the feel of the area, so we chose décor and photography that pays homage to local sports favorites like the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs."

The SPORT menu includes Bennigan's classics as well as brick-oven pizzas and Irish faire such as the Irish Banger Dog and Irish Ale Queso.
