SAVAGE, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This year, NOVUS Glass celebrates its 35th anniversary. The notable glass service business shares how the business has grown from its small beginnings in 1972 to the successful franchise company it is today.

It was during the early 1970s when Dr. Frank Werner's curiosity, driven determination and assistance from chemical engineer Bill Wiele led to the discovery of the modern day windshield repair.

When Gerald Keinath, founder of NOVUS, Inc., learned about this new invention, he knew that this service was needed in the market and decided to pursue this new business venture. In 1972, Keinath bought the patent rights for windshield repair and strategically designed the business plan that would bring windshield repair to the general market for the first time. As Keinath refined his business plan he partnered with entrepreneurs Paul Petersen, Dave Tenquist and Chemist Wally Hlavoc. Together they pioneered the windshield repair industry from the tools used to the products needed to effectively repair glass.
