Upscale hotel brand Crowne Plaza set for City Centre opening

March 11, 2008 // Franchising.com // Manchester is set to see the opening of its second Crowne Plaza property when a new contemporary-designed hotel opens in the vibrant Northern Quarter in September this year.

Aimed at the increasing number of corporate and leisure travellers coming to the city, the ten-floor hotel on Shudehill fits in with the modern design of nearby buildings such as the Urbis.

Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) family of brands, combines a comfortable environment and contemporary style with a high level of professional yet discreet service.

From the outside, the Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre will have an attractive angular design to the front and windows that are made from multi-coloured glass that appears to change colour as the light alters throughout the day.

Inside, the hotel will boast 228 contemporary and spacious guest rooms offering all the facilities expected of the Crowne Plaza brand. Among these there will also be several interconnecting rooms that can be used for families travelling with children.

Those looking for added comfort and exclusive lounge access will head to the top floor where they will find 24 Club rooms and the Plaza Suite.

The hotel will also contain a destination restaurant serving fresh locally sourced food. Businesses, meanwhile, will be able to make use of nine conference rooms. The largest of these will accommodate up to 300 delegates in theatre-style seating.

"Our new hotel will combine the power and high quality service of the Crowne Plaza brand with the contemporary look and feel of a boutique hotel," said Bob Fairweather, general manager, Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre.

"The whole city is within easy reach but the hotel is particularly well located for the MEN Arena, SportCity, the Printworks, Urbis and the numerous professional services companies based on and around Deansgate, ensuring it will appeal to the discerning business traveller and leisure guests alike."

The Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre is operated by Liverpool-based hotel developer Centre Island and further details on the property can be found on the Web at www.cpmanchester.com.
