Firehouse Subs Brings The Heat To South Florida

Firefighter-themed Sub Chain Plans to Open Nearly 30 Locations from Miami-Dade to Key West

April 14, 2008 // Franchising.com // JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Firehouse Subs recently announced plans for expansion into Miami-Dade County and as far south as Key West. The introduction of the Firehouse Subs brand into these new markets is part of a deal that will bring 26 Firehouse Subs franchises to the area over the next five years.

"Firehouse Subs first entered the South Florida market in 2004," said Don Fox, COO of Firehouse of America, LLC, the company's franchising division. "We are very excited about our plans for Dade and Monroe counties, where we will build upon our successful operations in Broward and West Palm. Miami is a vibrant, thriving community, and we look forward to being a part of it by bringing a truly unique restaurant experience to the market."

Leading the way is 19-year restaurant veteran Ted Tallman. As area representative for the new territory, Tallman will be responsible for selling individual locations to franchisees. The franchisees, who typically operate one to five restaurants, will oversee day-to-day operations. With the acquisition of the Miami-Dade and Key West markets, Tallman expands his current territory, which consists of 61 Firehouse Subs restaurants located from Fort Pierce to Broward County. At the conclusion of the expansion, a total of 87 stores will be open from Fort Pierce to Key West.

"Ted's proven leadership and success with Firehouse Subs in South Florida, coupled with the strength of the Firehouse brand, is a combination unmatched," added Fox.

Prior to joining Firehouse Subs, Tallman was the district manager for Cici's Pizza in the state of Florida. He also served as a manager with the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group and operated several independent restaurants in Atlanta.

Plans for expansion in 2008 are focused on the Northeast, Central, and Southwest regions of the country.
