ERA Real Estate Announces Winners of Fourth Annual Scholarship Program

Three Grants Totaling $30,000 Presented to Family Members of ERA Network Professionals

April 23, 2008 // Franchising.com // PARSIPPANY, N.J. — The 2008 recipients of the ERA® Scholarship Grant Program were announced at the annual ERA International Business Conference in Orlando, Florida. Each winner received a $10,000 check to help support their academic pursuits.

"ERA Real Estate is proud and delighted to help support the academic pursuits of these three bright and hard-working students," said Brenda Casserly, president and CEO of ERA Real Estate, at the awards ceremony. "Just as we are committed to fostering the continued growth of our affiliate members through ongoing training and development, we are excited to provide educational opportunities for their children and grandchildren through this scholarship program."

Joining Casserly in presenting the scholarship awards at the ceremony were Richard A. Smith, president and chief executive officer of Realogy Corporation, and Alex E. Perriello, president and chief executive officer of the Realogy Franchise Group. The three winners of the scholarship grants were:

  • Katie Sanders of Oxford, Ala., daughter of Donna Sanders with ERA King Real Estate Co., Inc of Oxford, Ala. The broker responsible for Katie's award is Everett King. Katie is a senior at Oxford High School and will enroll at the University of Alabama in the fall of 2008. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a volleyball player and volunteer youth coach, and hopes to pursue a law degree.
  • Erin Shattuck of North Chelmsford, Mass., daughter of Lynne Shattuck of ERA Morrison Real Estate in North Chelmsford, Mass. The broker responsible for Erin's award is Ronald Morrison. Erin is a graduate of Chelmsford High School where she was a member of the concert and marching bands and is currently a freshman at Endicott College. She majors in Criminal Justice and Spanish and is the goalie for the women's ice hockey team.
  • Jarrett Johnston of Canyon, Texas, son of Angela Johnston of ERA Jane Elliott in Canyon, Texas. The broker responsible for Jarrett's award is Jim Carr. Jarrett is a senior at Canyon High School and will be attending West Texas A&M University in the fall of 2008. Jarrett is a member of the marching band as well as a soccer player. He hopes to pursue an animation/graphics /visual effects career.



The grant program is open to children, grandchildren or legal wards of real estate professionals affiliated with the ERA system. Eligible candidates have to have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrate a financial need and reflect the same ideals for which ERA professionals are well known: leadership, volunteerism and a commitment to life-long learning.
