Seattle Sutton to Speak at Smart Women Smart Money Conference

May 09, 2008 // Franchising.com // Ottawa, Ill. -- Seattle Sutton, RN, BSN, Founder and President of Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating, will appear as the opening speaker for the Smart Women Smart Money conference titled "Recession-Proof Your Finances" on Monday, May 12 at Heartland Community Church in Rockford, Ill.

The event is hosted by Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias and sponsored by Dollars and Sense, Inc. -- a not-for-profit -- and by Family Credit Management.

Sutton's presentation, "Life's Lessons and Financial Responsibility," will begin with her upbringing in rural North Dakota during the Great Depression and move onto the lessons learned along the way to present day. Her unique story will cover her transformation from small town nurse and mother of five to entrepreneur and her journey for the past twenty-two years as a business owner.

"I am thrilled to share my life's lessons about financial responsibility. I believe everyone can benefit from a recession-proofing program given the current state of our economy. I salute the Treasurer's office for organizing such an event," said Sutton.

This is Sutton's second appearance as a speaker for the Smart Women Smart Money conference series and is an extension of her relationship with the Treasurer's office, since she was appointed late last year to the Illinois State Treasurer's Women's Affairs Council.

"At an age most women are thinking about retirement, Seattle Sutton launched a highly successful business," said Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias. "I hope her story is an inspiration to other aspiring women business owners."

Smart Women Smart Money symposiums present a unique opportunity for women to learn about current financial issues, network with other women, and showcase their businesses and organizations. The conference is FREE; however, reservations are required. For information: www.treasurer.il.us or 312-814-4338.
