One of the first hotels to open in the region since the devastation of Hurricane Charley in 2004, it is also the area's first "Green" hotel, implementing programs and practices to protect and conserve Florida's natural resources and the environment. On hand for the May 7th ribbon cutting were officials from the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce, local business leaders, and representatives from the Microtel Inns & Suites corporate office. On behalf of the hotel, Dr. Asperilla presented a check for $5,000 to fund a 'Microtel Examination Room' at the St. Vincent de Paul Community Health Care Clinic, which serves the underinsured and the uninsured.
