Promotion Tempts Guests to Embark on Indy-Themed Adventure
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Burger King Corp. (NYSE:BKC) today announced an Indy-themed promotion that brings BURGER KING(R) restaurant guests and fans of the famed Indiana Jones(TM) films one step closer to the long-awaited Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull(TM). The promotion celebrates the entire franchise and features the special edition Indy DOUBLE WHOPPER(R) sandwich, the "Reveal the Secret" scratch-and-win game, the "Big Dig" online game and a series of Kids Meal toys.
For guests with an adventurous appetite, the Indy DOUBLE WHOPPER(R) sandwich provides extra kick with spicy Cajun mayo and pepper jack cheese. The sandwich features two quarter-pound flame-broiled burger patties topped with two slices of melted pepper jack cheese, four slices of crispy bacon, spicy Cajun mayo, ripe tomatoes, crisp lettuce, onions and mayo on a toasted sesame seed bun. The Indy DOUBLE WHOPPER(R) sandwich is available for a limited time only at participating BURGER KING(R) restaurants for a suggested retail price of $4.29.
"The cross-generational appeal and cultural phenomenon of the Indiana Jones series make this one of the most coveted entertainment partnerships," said Brian Gies, vice president of marketing impact, Burger King Corp. "The sponsorship allows Burger King Corp. to give our customers and fans of the movie the action and adventure they love."
With a prize behind one of two scratch-off areas on each game piece, the "Reveal the Secret" game challenges restaurant guests to make high-stakes decisions inspired by Indiana Jones. Players have a one-in-two chance of winning each time they play, and prizes include $1 million, a 2008 Hummer H2, a trip for four to Peru from Expedia.com, free food items from BURGER KING(R) restaurants, and much more.
Game pieces are available while supplies last with the purchase of select BURGER KING(R) food items in the U.S., including large and king-sized french fries and medium, large and king-sized drinks. Game pieces are also available on value meals. A medium lunch or dinner value meal offers one game piece; a large value meal offers two game pieces, and a king value meal offers three game pieces.
For the first time, restaurant guests in the U.S. can use their "Reveal the Secret" game pieces to continue the opportunity to win online at www.bkindy.com, where the "Big Dig" takes fans from the restaurant to the Web. Each day, a $10,000 prize is hidden on the site. Site visitors enter the code found on their "Reveal the Secret" game piece and press the "Dig" icon to stop the roving searchlight and start digging for the prize. Each day the $10,000 prize goes uncovered, an additional $10,000 is added to the total prize. Within the first 24 hours of the game's launch, more than 75,000 codes were entered and the first $10,000 prize was awarded to a lucky winner.
Each registered player gets three chances to play each day. The site launched Monday, May 12, and the game is available for 28 days, with a maximum prize of $280,000.(a)
There is also a series of eight adventure-themed Kids Meal toys based on key scenes from all four Indiana Jones movies, as well as a Kids Meal bag printed in invisible ink. Each bag is printed with Indy trivia, and answers can only be revealed using the invisible ink pen, one of the Kids Meal toys. One toy accompanies each purchase of a BK(R) Kids Meal at participating BURGER KING(R) restaurants globally while supplies last.
In addition, a large-scale marketing campaign is supporting the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at BURGER KING(R) restaurants and includes a series of television advertising spots, in-restaurant merchandising and custom packaging.
(a) No purchase necessary. In-store game ends 6/8/08 or when supplies are exhausted. Online game ends 6/8/08.
