CHICAGO, May 15 // PRNewswire // -- The Illinois Employee Confidence Index bounced back after reaching an unprecedented low in March, increasing 6.1 points to 44.5 in April, according to the latest Spherion® Employment Report. The monthly survey of Illinois workers, conducted by Harris Interactive® on behalf of Spherion Corporation, indicates that more workers are confident about finding a new job and more are feeling secure about the future of their current employer.
"We have certainly experienced a rebound in worker confidence. Illinois continues to lead all Midwestern states in job growth since January 2004 and the unemployment rate dropped to its lowest level seen this year," explained Jodie Wood, regional director of Spherion Staffing Services in Illinois. "Contrary to these reports, we are seeing that more than half of workers are not planning on searching for a new job. Regardless, employers should still have an eye on retention, while staying on top of recruitment strategies for those who are in the market for a job change."
