Jacksons & CHIPS Join Forces

May 21, 2008 // Franchising.com // CHIPS, the UK's biggest independent video games retailer, has appointed Jacksons Solicitors' commercial property team to steer it through its expansion.

CHIPS, which is based in Middlesbrough, has more than 30 outlets across the UK, both franchised and company-owned. The company is now being advised by Jacksons' commercial property partner, Jane Armitage.

Together with her five-strong team she advises a wide range of clients on their commercial property needs, franchising being a specialist area.

Jane comments on the new appointment: "We are absolutely delighted to be working with CHIPS doing their property-related work and look forward to working with them in the future as they continue to expand their business across the UK. It is also very exciting to be part of the growth of a company which has its roots here in the north east."

CHIPS was set up in the mid-1980s by Nik Agar and Don McCabe. The company, which celebrates its 22nd birthday this year, was the first to franchise its highly successful formula across the country. CHIPS stores buy, sell and trade new and secondhand consoles, games and accessories.

Nik Agar, Joint Managing Director of CHIPS Franchise Ltd, said: "Jane Armitage and her team at Jacksons are providing us with an extremely efficient and competitively-priced service and we have every confidence our partnership will be a great success."
