A Message To Our Customers About The FDA Tomato Advisory

June 11, 2008 // Franchising.com // IRVINE, Calif. — At Taco Bell, your safety and well-being is our top priority. So strictly as a precaution, we are temporarily not serving tomatoes. Like other restaurants and supermarkets, we are following the FDA Advisory warning consumers not to eat certain tomatoes. We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
This removal does not apply to our salsa used in Mexican Pizza and Taco Salads. The tomatoes in these salsas are fully cooked and not part of the FDA advisory for raw tomatoes.

Our Fresco Menu items are available at our restaurants, and will be temporarily prepared without our Fiesta Salsa (which contains tomatoes). We suggest you ask for packets of our Border Sauces-either Hot, Fire or Mild-as a temporary replacement.
For more information and updates about the tomato advisory, please visit the FDA or CDC web sites at: www.fda.gov and www.cdc.gov. For further updates about the availability of tomatoes at Taco Bell, please visit our News Section at www.tacobell.com where we will be posting information as it becomes available.
