Mr. Patel opened the first Cocina Mexican Grill in the Galleria Mall, just outside Nashville, in 2003. The second Cocina Mexican Grill opened in downtown Nashville in 2005. He has established a combination of menu items with flavors that have drawn repeat diners at both locations.

The food is freshly prepared, with the theme, "Real People, Real Food, Real Fast." Each order is custom made for the customer, and the customer can choose from a variety of ingredients in each menu item.
