Recognized for Outstanding Leadership, Marilyn Carlson Nelson Receives Career Achievement Award

July 18, 2008 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis, MN - Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chairman of the board of Carlson, a global hotel, marketing, restaurant and travel company, has received the Career Achievement Award presented by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Faye Beauchine, executive vice president, global engagement & events, Carlson Marketing, was recognized as an Industry Leader by the publication.

The Career Achievement Award honors a female executive's achievements in outstanding leadership, exceptional performance in her field and involvement in the Twin Cities business community.

This is the second local honor Nelson has received since May when she was recognized as a Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest Business Hall of Fame Laureate.

Forbes magazine has regularly selected Nelson as one of "The World's 100 Most Powerful Women." In 2006 she was named one of "America's Best Leaders" by U.S. News and World Report, and in 2007 Ethisphere Magazine named her one of the "100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics."

Outside of her industry Nelson serves on the boards of Exxon Mobil Corporation, the Mayo Clinic Foundation, and the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy.
