Portland is Yappy about Camp Bow Wow(R) Opening for Business this Summer

The best dog boarding and dog daycare facility is now open in Portland Maine.

Portland, ME (PRWEB) July 30, 2008 -- Tails began wagging on July 28th as the first Camp Bow Wow® opened for business in Portland. Dogs and their two-legged guardians are invited to visit the premiere doggy day care and overnight boarding camp located at 49 Blueberry Road just off outer Congress Street.

Pups are invited to come in and experience an entirely new concept in doggy day and overnight care. Camp Bow Wow® has a lot to offer to their furry friends. It has an upscale environment for dogs to play, romp and receive lots of love and attention. In every nook and cranny of the camp, there are live Camper Cams® installed so owners can watch their beloved pooches play all day. This doggy day care is just different. For one thing, there's the all day play. Instead of spending most of the day in a cage, without minimal walks, dogs that visit Camp Bow Wow® enjoy most of their time (whether it's for day camp or boarding) playing in one of the four large indoor/outdoor play areas.

"During the day, campers can spend most of their time outdoors playing with their four-legged friends," said owners Gary and Jill Mansir. "At Camp Bow Wow® our day campers find themselves exhausted by the end of the day when their guardians come to pick them up. The guests who stay overnight are given a tasty campfire treat just before being tucked into their own private and spacious cabin."

The facility is completely climate controlled and the cabins even come complete with a comfortable cozy fleece-lined cot in a climate-controlled environment. Another unique quality of the camp is that there are Certified Camp Counselors® who are required to monitor the pooches all day and adhere to the strict camper to counselor ratio for the safety of dogs. The counselors are trained in dog behavior, safety and health management. They are also CPR and First aid trained. Camp Bow Wow® knows how dogs play and interact, so they keep all sizes and types of pups very yappy!

As an additional safety measure, the camp keeps large and small doggies in separate play areas. Gary and Jill have been lifelong avid dog lovers and when they found out about a Camp Bow Wow® franchise opportunity they were sold. Gary and Jill were quickly hooked because Camp Bow Wow® goes above and beyond the typical doggie day and overnight care.

"Not only were we impressed that Camp Bow Wow could help us to set up a great experience for dogs, but the most influential piece of the puzzle was Camp Bow Wow's passion for expressing the importance of charitable causes for dogs. Camp Bow Wow® presented us the opportunity to foster dogs and generally help these beautiful and loyal animals to have loving and meaningful lives throughout the Camp Bow Wow system and beyond," said Jill.

Gary previously worked for IDEXX Labs, which is a company that specializes in companion animal diagnostics. He did this for 16 years and decided to leave corporate life for an opportunity to provide a fun and safe environment for pups. Gary and Jill are a hard working duo that want to inspire the rest of their team to work hard in providing a place for dogs to come play with their friends and be loved by the staff.

"We want all the pups to feel like they are part of our family," said Gary.

There are a few requirements to be a camper and it all starts with the free interview day. The interview is a meet and greet with dogs of similar size and temperament and both Gary and Jill advise owners to leave their pooches for the full day.

"Basically, it's a free day of camp and we get to know our future guests on a first name basis," said Gary.

Camp Bow Wow® Portland will be hosting a "Very Important Pooch" event this Thursday, August 7th from 5pm-7pm. This is the perfect opportunity for local business owners and invited guests to meet the staff, take a tour of the camp and enjoy some wine and cheese.
