1-800-DRYCLEAN Concept Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Darrell New, vice president of Guerrilla Marketing for 1-800-DryClean, started the concept in 1988 during his last semester of college. Today, 1-800-Dryclean franchise serves more than 30,000 customers across 25 states.

August 12, 2008 // Franchising.com // Ann Arbor, MI., – Shannon Toler, president of 1-800-DryClean franchise, lit 20 candles marking the brand's 20th anniversary.

"We're celebrating the durability of our franchise concept, and the increasing value that we provide to our customers across America," said Toler. "As prices at the pump remain high, our free pick-up & delivery service not only saves our customers precious time, but also expensive gas."

"I started this business in 1988 during my last semester of business school at the University of Central Florida," said New. "My first customer was the salesman who sold me the delivery van. He had a vested interest in my success."

Service Brands acquired the company in 1999, and brought Darrell in as vice president of operations. In September 2006, Darrell was named vice president of Guerrilla Marketing, to ensure that 1-800-DryClean franchisees had the tools to attract new customers, to retain their business, and to earn their referrals.

"We're excited about where we are and where we're going," said Toler. "As an affordable, home-based franchise opportunity, our franchisees are well positioned to provide quality, service and value to a growing consumer market."
