Marietta, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Petland store in Marietta, Ohio, has announced its efforts to assist in the rescue of nearly 1,000 dogs and puppies from Whispering Oaks Kennel in Parkersburg.
"Both the community and our Petland team members are dedicated to making sure the rescued pets are taken care of and find loving homes," says Freddie Lagnese, General Manager of Petland Marietta.
Petland is holding a newspaper drive as well as offering a 25% discount to anyone who purchases an item for the shelter. Petland is also sending two volunteers each day to the temporary shelter in Parkersburg to help wherever they are needed.
Lagnese has also called upon his vendors for help. Nutro Products is donating 1,120 pounds of dog food and Coastal Pet Products is donating collars, leashes and toys.
Nearly 1,000 dogs and puppies were rescued from Whispering Oaks Kennel Saturday, August 23rd by the Humane Society of Parkersburg after a search warrant was issued by the Department of Environmental Protection. About 60 volunteers have been working in a donated warehouse at 29th and Poplar Street in Parkersburg to restore the lives of the rescued puppies and place them in shelters.
