Townsville's Ben wins global franchise's major award

October 01, 2008 // Franchising.com // Townsville's Ben Edwards has taken out global franchise ecowash mobile's 2008 Australian Franchisee of the Year.

With over 50 franchises in Australia and operations in 14 countries, the Australian waterless carwash found Ben's claims to the top award irresistible at their yearly national conference last week.

"Ben's energy and attitude, his work ethic and aptitude towards generating new business is outstanding and having someone like him represent us is great for our brand," said ecowash mobile managing director Jim Cornish.

At just 24, Ben Edwards is a budding entrepreneur and recognised an opportunity in the parched Townsville township two years ago when he opened his ecowash mobile franchise.

"I started in April 2006. It was something totally different and I saw an opportunity with Townville on water restrictions at the time," Ben explained.

"I saw that not only could I help Townsville, this would allow others in the form of my clients to do their bit for the environment as well."

""The key for me has been the repeat business. Local customers initially tried my services from an environmental standpoint, but have remained customers because of the quality of the finished job."

Business is going through the roof, with Ben cleaning an average 45-50 cars per week.

"The earning potential of the business is ridiculously good. Start up costs are extremely cheap and your profit margins once you are up and running are unbelievable.

The marketing support is fantastic and the cars just stand out so much. The letter heads, business cards, everything is immaculately done. I am at capacity and can't take on much more work - so now it is time to expand"
