Minneapolis, (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Famous Dave's of America, Inc. (NASDAQ: DAVE) celebrated the Grand Opening of its Algonquin, IL, restaurant on October 13, 2008. Founder "Famous" Dave Anderson was on hand to lead the ceremonies at the opening of the 172nd Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que(R) restaurant.

"We are thrilled to bring a brand new Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que to the Northwest suburbs of Chicago," said Christopher O'Donnell, President and CEO of Famous Dave's. O'Donnell also noted that the move of operations from its former Carpentersville, IL, location to Algonquin aligns with the company's strategy to reposition legacy restaurants within a market when opportunities arise.

At each Famous Dave's Grand Opening, embers from a ceremonial fire are passed from the last opened restaurant to the newest location to symbolize the prosperity and heritage that began with Famous Dave's first restaurant in Hayward, WI, in 1994. "Famous" Dave Anderson presided over the "passing of the embers" as Algonquin dignitaries and Famous Dave's guests looked on.
