Carlson Hotels Worldwide Signs 33 New Properties in the Third Quarter of 2008

Twelve New Hotels Added to Portfolio in August and September

Minneapolis, Oct. 22 // PRNewswire // -- Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced that it has signed franchise or management agreements for 33 new properties in the third quarter of 2008. The new hotels and resorts span 13 countries, including 13 Radisson and Radisson SAS properties; 12 Country Inns & Suites By Carlson(SM) properties; seven Park Inn locations; and one Regent luxury hotel. The company also announced 12 new hotel openings in August and September, adding locations in Norway, Russia, Germany, Brazil and the U.S. Carlson's worldwide portfolio currently totals 995 hotels with more than 148,000 rooms in 74 countries. Carlson hotel brands also include Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.

"Despite challenges in the current global economy, Carlson Hotels and our development partners have opened nearly 60 hotels so far in 2008 and signed more than 120 development agreements for future properties," said Jay Witzel, president and CEO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide. "This commitment to continuing worldwide growth will be celebrated later this year as we look forward to opening our landmark 1,000th hotel in December," Witzel added.

Radisson Hotels & Resorts

Radisson Hotels & Resorts signed eight properties in the third quarter of 2008 and opened one hotel in September.

The Radisson Hotel Ontario Airport, California, scheduled to open in 2011, will be the first Radisson in Ontario and 15th location in California. Ontario offers a variety of entertainment options for the entire family to enjoy including the 1.7 million square foot Ontario Mills -- Southern California's largest outlet shopping mall and entertainment center -- and one of its largest tourist attractions. Ontario's prime location and transportation infrastructure provide easy access to all the recreational and cultural opportunities Southern California has to offer. Just minutes from Ontario International Airport, the hotel will feature 132 rooms and offer Sleep Number(R) beds throughout the property, wireless Internet access in the rooms and lobby, and a full service restaurant and lounge.

The newly opened Radisson Alphaville is strategically located in Alphaville, a modern suburb of Sao Paulo, near Castelo Branco highway and close to major banks, shopping malls, Cinemark Movie Theaters, and several multinational companies. The hotel features 135 rooms equipped with work stations with complimentary high speed Internet access, King size bed, cable TV with full package, digital safe, air conditioning, mini-bar, iron and ironing board, dual-line telephones with voice mail, coffee maker, bath-tub and hairdryer. The hotel provides a complimentary buffet breakfast and offers the Tulipa Restaurant featuring international cuisine.

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts

The Rezidor Hotel Group, Carlson's partner in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, signed five new Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts in five countries including Russia, Germany, France, Morocco and South Africa. Rezidor also opened a new Radisson property in Toulouse, France.

Scheduled to open in 2010, the Radisson Resort & Spa, Tangier, Morocco will be located on the east end of the Bay of Tangier in the Ghandouri area -- on a slope towards the Mediterranean Sea. Its development is part of "Plan Mada'in", initiated by the King of Morocco and aiming to reposition and extend eight existing tourist destinations in the country. Besides 155 rooms featuring 17 suites and 41 villas, the resort will offer a Thalasso center operated by the French spa "Thalgo", two restaurants, two bars, leisure facilities like a swimming pool and a kids club, conference areas, and a business center.

Embodying the best in modern design and luxurious touches, the newly opened Radisson SAS Hotel, Toulouse Airport is the 11th Radisson hotel in France and the biggest hotel in Toulouse. The hotel's imposing white facade and multi-colored shutters hint at the stylish guest rooms and suites which lie inside, all designed by renowned designer Alain Marcot. Located just four minutes from the main airport and five miles from Toulouse's main tourist attractions, the hotel is ideal for both leisure and business travelers. The Radisson SAS Hotel, Toulouse Airport offers 200 guest rooms with 18 Junior Suites and six Suites. All rooms and suites are refined and contemporary, functional and fully equipped with Hi-Tech equipment including flat-screen TV and free high speed Wi-Fi Internet access.

Country Inns & Suites By Carlson

Country Inns & Suites By Carlson signed 12 new properties in the third quarter of 2008 with eight locations in the U.S. and four in India. The brand also opened six hotels in August and September including locations in Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, New Braunfels, Texas will be the first Country Inn & Suites property in New Braunfels when it opens in 2010. The hotel will feature 80 rooms and suites and offers free high-speed Internet access throughout the hotel. The hotel will be close to several area attractions including the Guadalupe River, The Natural Bridge Caverns/Wildlife Ranch and the country's number one water park, Schlitterbahn.

Opening in late August, the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Abescon, NJ features 68 rooms and is conveniently located within 106 miles of three major airports; Atlantic City International, Philadelphia International and Newark International. The hotel features an indoor pool, whirlpool and fitness room and all rooms provide complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access, hair dryer, 32" flat panel television, microwave and refrigerator.

Other new Country Inns & Suites By Carlson openings in August and September include the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Oklahoma City Airport, Okla.; Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Wilmington Airport at Market Street, N.C., owned by ARAV, LLC; Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Pensacola West, Fla., owned by Shiv-Parvati, Inc.; Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Green Bay North, Wis., owned by Silent Night, LLC; and Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Pinellas Park, Fla., owned by Shyam Associates, Inc.

Park Inn

Park Inn signed seven new properties in four countries including Russia, Belgium, India and the United Kingdom. The brand also opened four new hotels in August and September with locations in Norway, Russia, Germany and the Czech Republic.

The Park Inn Southend-On-Sea, scheduled to open in 2009, is the 40th Park Inn in operation and under development in the UK & Ireland. The Park Inn Southend-on-Sea will be located along Southend's Western Esplanade, overlooking the mouth of the River Thames. The property -- which showcases an impressive conversion of the "The Palace" -- building into a mixed use development -- will be in the heart of the city's tourist area and easily accessible from other parts of town. Besides 137 rooms (the majority enjoying full sea view), the hotel will offer a bar, a restaurant, and conference facilities. Guests will also have access to a spa & health club, and upmarket residential apartments will be located on the top floor of the building.

Opened in August, the Park Inn Ostrava is the first Park Inn in the Czech Republic. Located in the heart of downtown Ostrava, close to The Orchard, a newly built neighboring business office complex with multinational corporations, the Park Inn Ostrava offers 185 bright and stunning guest rooms, all equipped with modern amenities including satellite TV and individual climate control. Regent Hotels & Resorts

On October 8, 2008, Regent broke ground on its newest property and first development in Puerto Rico, The Regent Palmas del Mar Puerto Rico.

Scheduled to open December 2011, The Regent Puerto Rico will include 96 guestrooms and 52 suites as well as a spectacular 5,500-square-foot Presidential Suite and a Presidential Beach Cottage, featuring expansive views of the Caribbean Sea, neighboring island Vieques and Puerto Rico's lush rainforest. The Regent Puerto Rico will also offer 153 Regent-branded residences.
