Hot Flatbread Café Concept to Open in Newark, New Jersey Airport

November 24, 2008 // // West Redding, CT, — Abe Dortheimer and his company, Silver Lining, have franchised with Sandella's Flatbread Café to bring a new unit in Terminal B1 of Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. Dortheimer plans to open his Sandella's location by the summer of 2009 and has operated several other concepts in the airport including Wetzel's Pretzels, Pizzeria Uno Express and A & W Hamburgers. Sandella's Flatbread Café is a fast casual concept with more than 125 locations open nationwide, including a brand new store in Hollywood, California and a new franchise development agent for Boston and New Hampshire. Sandella's isn't slowing down with 400 restaurants in development across the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates.

"The flatbread enhances the taste of the food inside it," says Dortheimer. "We feel that the variety, freshness, high quality and great taste come together to make Sandella's a very exciting concept. It will be the first and only flatbread concept in the airport, and I think it will be a huge hit!"

Sandella's Flatbread Café incorporates the hottest trends in the fast casual segment, serving fresh, hot and healthy menu items such as grilled flatbreads, paninis, sandwiches, chopped salads, rice bowls and quesadillas – all made with their own delicious brick-oven, low calorie, fat free flatbread. Already ahead of its time, Sandella's menu is trans-fat free and listed in the Weight Watchers Points Guide.

Restaurants average 1,000-1,500 square feet and seat 30 to 40 guests.
