Pizza Inn Named 2008 Pizza Chain of the Year

The Colony, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--What a year it has been! Through hard economic times and a series of changes, Dallas-based PIZZA INN (NASDAQ: PZZI) has made a huge comeback. The chain is pleased to announce today that it has been named 2008 Pizza Chain of the Year by Pizza Marketplace.com.

The news comes after Pizza Inn celebrated 50 years of service, saw consistent profits return, completed its sixth consecutive quarter of same store sales increases, announced a new management team, unveiled a successful new prototype store in Denton, Texas and was finally reunited with their old pizza spinning mascot JoJo - all in the same year.

"We are honored to be awarded Pizza Chain of the Year," said Charlie Morrison, president and CEO of Pizza Inn. "The news could not have come at a better time for us."

"We really feel that everyone at Pizza Inn - the franchisees, the employees, and the management team have all come together to see Pizza Inn as a great place to be," said Morrison. "Everyone at Pizza Inn has been working so hard to get back to the fundamentals that the brand was founded on and this award captures our hard work this past year."

Pizza Marketplace.com chose Pizza Inn as 2008 Pizza Chain of the Year based upon the chain's commitment to the quality of their pizzas and legendary service, in addition to their many accomplishments seen this past year that have led to the chain's revitalization. The publication is the leading source of pizza information on the Internet with more than 1.6 million site visits annually and is a division of NetWorld Alliance, a leading vertical restaurant publisher in the restaurant industry.

"We look forward to 2009 as an opportunity to continue the momentum we have gained in 2008," said Morrison.

Pizza Inn is actively seeking new franchisees for both international and domestic development.

Pizza Inn, Inc. is headquartered in The Colony, Texas, along with its distribution division, Norco Restaurant Services Company. The Company is a franchisor and food and supply distributor to a system of franchised and company owned restaurants operating both domestically and internationally under the trade name "Pizza Inn".
