Escondido PostalAnnex+ Goes High-Tech with Live Scan Fingerprinting

Escondido Location Offers Faster Service for Background Checks

January 12, 2009 // Franchising.com // Escondido , CA - Postal Annex+, your one-stop business service center, now offers another service at its Escondido location in the Plaza Las Palmas… Live Scan fingerprinting. Owner Dan Sundquist has teamed up with Biometrics4All, a multibiometrics technology company based in Tustin, CA, in an effort to get the fastest fingerprinting service available to his customers.

The store now offers the inkless technology to anyone in need of fingerprinting to complete a criminal background check. And if that sounds high-tech, it is. Digital fingerprinting was adapted by the Department of Justice back in 1997. As a result of that legislation, the DOJ developed an automated background check process that requires digitized fingerprints (Live Scan), and beginning January 1, 2000, fingerprints had to be submitted by Live Scan rather than hard copy fingerprint cards.

This process of digitizing the fingerprints allows for the electronic transfer of the fingerprint image to computers at the DOJ in a matter of seconds, instead of the days required to send hard-copy fingerprint cards through the mail. The turnaround time for background checks (if there is no criminal activity) is typically around three days, as opposed to the minimum two weeks needed for the older format of inked fingerprints to travel through the system. And aside from the speedier service, there are other benefits: inkless technology means no smudging or smearing, and no problems associated with too much or too little ink.

You may be thinking, does anyone really need to be fingerprinted anymore? Brace yourself: in this era of increased security, fingerprinting is becoming the norm. Anyone applying for employment in teaching, daycare, elder care giving, security, and foster or adoptive parenting will need Live Scan fingerprinting. Volunteers who work with children in schools, the Boy Scouts, and camps are also required to be fingerprinted. And if you are applying for your first license as a Realtor, notary public, stockbroker, attorney, pharmacist, psychologist, clinical counselor, or driving instructor, get those digits ready. In fact, there is legislation pending in many other industries which will require the use of Live Scan technology in the future.

But not to worry. With the service readily available at Dan Sundquist's PostalAnnex+, anyone and everyone can easily complete the process of a required background check. More good news is that Sundquist's system is portable, allowing it to be transported as needed. And perhaps best of all comes the announcement that while the DOJ requires a per-person fee for the service, Sundquist says that he is happy to provide discounts where volume is taken into account.

Sundquist's PostalAnnex+ store is located in the Plaza Las Palmas Shopping Center at 970 W. Valley Parkway in Escondido. The store's hours are Monday – Friday from 8 :00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The store offers a convenient one-stop service center featuring shipping through UPS, FedEx and the USPS in addition to providing mailbox rentals, packaging supplies, photocopying, notary and a variety of other office services.
