Uno Chicago Grill(R) Celebrates Thirty Years as Area Favorite

Boylston Street Location Hosts Anniversary Event With Free Pizza for a Year!

BOSTON, April 6 // PRNewswire // -- Uno Chicago Grill(R) and its iconic deep-dish pizza first came to Boston and the world via its Boylston Street restaurant thirty years ago thanks to local businessman Aaron Spencer. Since that time, the chain has expanded to over 200 locations worldwide, and it continues to grow.

On Tuesday, April 7, Uno Chicago Grill will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its first Boston location with a host of fun activities. To kick off the day's big event, Mayor Thomas Menino will present a proclamation stating that April 7 is "Uno Day" at 11:45 AM. The Mayor will then join Uno CEO Frank Guidara, Founder & Chairman Emeritus Aaron Spencer, COO Roger Zingle, and local Managing Partner Bryan Goldie as they blow out 30 candles on a special deep dish anniversary pizza.

The day will feature numerous special activities. For example, the first 30 guests arriving for lunch at the Boylston restaurant -- beginning at 11:00 am -- will receive free "Pizza for a Year," which consists of a coupon book for one free pizza per month for 12 months.

Boylston and the five other urban Boston Uno locations (Huntington Avenue, Kenmore Square, Allston, Harvard Square and Porter Square in Cambridge) will feature other exciting celebration giveaways. For example, every 30 minutes from 4-9PM, a randomly chosen guest will receive a coupon for a free entree on their next visit, while guests who are celebrating their 30th birthday and show proof (birth certificate or license) will also receive a free entree. Everyone who joins in on the fun at these restaurants will receive a free birthday dessert treat on the 7th, as well as a goodie bag.

Chicago's famous purveyor of deep dish pizza opened its first Boston location - at 731 Boylston Street - on April 5, 1979 and now boasts over 40 locations in New England (visit www.unos.com for a complete list of these locations).

This 30th anniversary celebration coincides with the chain's 65th Anniversary overall, and offers a story of hope, determination, inspiration and innovation. Within a deepening recession, a true success story may be the most intriguing news item of all.

"When you have a tremendous product, coupled with a team of people who believe in it, it will stand the test of time," said Founder Aaron Spencer.
