Great Clips Announces Aggressive Plan To Franchise Jacksonville, Florida

Franchise opportunities in grocery store-anchored strip centers

May 28, 2009 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis, MN, Great Clips today announced plans to expand the brands footprint throughout the Jacksonville metro area.

"We currently have 16 salons open from the Camdenwoods center in Kingsland, Georgia, to the north, and to St. Augustine, south of Jacksonville, in the Cobblestone Village center," said Rob Goggins, vice president of franchise development for the 2,700-unit hair salon franchise brand. "While other businesses are feeling the ill effects of the economy, Great Clips is proving resistant to its mood swings."

Publix Super Markets, the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States and based in Lakeland, Florida, along with a major developer, is slated to build a number of grocery store-anchored strip centers in the following communities over the next 12 months: Fleming Island, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and St. John's County.

While we can't control whether or not these centers will eventually be built out, we're taking a positive and pro-active approach to these high-traffic strip-center opportunities. The demographics of these areas are well suited for our value-priced, no appointment necessary service," said Goggins. "It's even possible that our existing franchise owners may decide at a future date to take one or all of these locations for themselves.

"It really is a first come, first-serve opportunity. For those who knock first, the professional and lifestyle benefits can be quite rewarding. Interested candidates need only to complete our online application to see if they qualify.

"Hair grows every day, and people are still getting their hair cut every four to five weeks. Our Great Clips business model is positioned on a no appointment, value-priced haircut, which does well when the economy is humming, but even better when consumers are trimming expenses. We're on track to welcome more than 100 new franchise owners into our system this year."
