Red Lion Hotels and the ASPCA(R) Team Up to Help Animals

Partnership Builds on Red Lion's Pet Friendly Programs

July 01, 2009 // Franchising.com // Spokane, WA - Red Lion Hotels Corporation (NYSE: RLH) and the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) have teamed up to support the ASPCA's mission of providing an effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals across the United States.

Guests staying at any of Red Lion's 43 west coast hotels can "stay comfortable" and at the same time help animals stay comfortable, too. At all Red Lion hotels, guests will be able to purchase "Red, the Lion," the company's plush toy mascot, that features the ASPCA's signature orange logo for $5, with net proceeds going to the ASPCA. "Red" will also be available for direct purchase at www.redlion.com/aspca. To further support animal welfare, Red Lion hotel and corporate office associates will be donating time to local animal causes and conducting fundraisers to benefit the ASPCA.

To celebrate the launch of its new ASPCA relationship, Red Lion has teamed with Horizon Air, the Pacific Northwest's leading airline, to sell "Red, the Lion" on board every flight from Portland to the San Francisco Bay Area through August 16, reaching an audience of hundreds of thousands of travelers.

"Being of the feline persuasion ourselves, we are thrilled to sponsor the good work of the ASPCA, said Anupam Narayan, President and CEO, Red Lion Hotels. "Their relentless efforts to help and comfort animals go hand-in-hand with the spirit in which we make our guests stay comfortable every day." Narayan added, "This isn't a onetime initiative for Red Lion. One of the reasons guests choose us is because we have a track record of supporting our communities and a pet friendly philosophy." Red Lion's pet policy is the industry's most liberal with pets staying free at every Red Lion hotel in the system. Pets can even earn and redeem points in the Red Lion R&R Club loyalty program.

"Red Lion is very committed to the well-being of animals, so the ASPCA is thrilled to team up with them," said Jo Sullivan, Executive Vice President of External Affairs for the ASPCA. Sullivan also said, "Red Lion is providing great support at both the national level, through employee involvement, and at the local level, from community to community."

"Red, the Lion" is $5 with net proceeds benefiting the ASPCA. He may be purchased online at www.redlion.com/aspca or at any Red Lion hotel. Red Lion is also showcasing "Red" via a companion online social site (www.whereintheworldisred.com) where guests, associates, and supporters can post pictures of their adventures with "Red" and connect with others interested in similar topics and causes.
