San Jose Blendz, Teams Up With SJSU To Make The City Of San Jose A Model For Healthy Living

San Jose Blendz, with Our Healthy Fun-Fresh-Food, is Working at Supporting San Jose State University in Their Effort to Make the City of San Jose and SJSU a Model for Healthy Living

Is the Economy Encouraging Obesity?

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--We at Blendz of Downtown San Jose feel that healthy eating is one of the keys to success. Blendz, with our healthy quick-service food, is working at supporting San Jose State University in their effort to make the City of San Jose and SJSU a model for healthy living, by offering a healthier alternative to the traditional fast food options like pizza, Chinese or burgers.

Dining on quick, super-sized high-carbohydrate, calorie and high-fat food has become all too familiar. With restaurants failing on a daily basis, fast food franchises have spent millions of dollars on advertising a cheap product line to sell during our economic downturn. The ads are always based on the cost (cheap) and quantity (super-sized) rather than quality. For example, a popular pizza place is offering $5.00 pepperoni and cheese calzones that weigh one pound each. If one slice of meat lover's pizza has 1250 calories, how many empty calories are in a one-pound calzone?

Our young adults are suffering because we do not encourage healthy eating habits. High-carbohydrate and fatty foods only lead to "crashing" and mental fatigue. In order to increase sales, the big franchises are using the economy to give us the excuse to eat high-fat and super-sized servings of food. In this competitive world, more than ever to succeed, our young adults need to be alert, healthy and fit.

You are what you eat!!

Right now is the time to decide, what is important in life to you. Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and low self-esteem are not worth the savings of a few dollars on cheap super-sized, high-fat, simple carbohydrates and high-calorie food.

Healthy food does not have to be boring or expensive. When you eat a healthy, balanced meal you get the nutrients that your body is craving therefore, you feel satisfied on normal size portions for a longer period of time.

Because we want to show you how delicious and satisfying a healthy drink can be, Blendz is offering our very popular and delicious 24 oz. "Most Wanted" smoothie for $3.99, made with strawberries, bananas, apple juice, and non-fat frozen yogurt - don't forget to add an energy boost - the first one is free!! Valid until August 15, 2009. Valid only at the San Jose Downtown location.
